Katie Rose Hargreaves
Economic Development Specialist
Katie Rose Hargreaves currently serves as Economic Development Specialist for the City of Rowlett, Texas. In this position, she fosters relationships with our businesses and the development community to enhance private investment through existing business retention and expansion as well as attraction of new business to grow the economy and create jobs.
Miss Hargreaves looks forward to adding value with the economic development team as we embark on an exciting time for Rowlett with the Bayside, North Shore, Village of Rowlett, and many more projects in the pipeline. The outcome of these projects will bring over a billion dollars in capital investment and over 7,500 jobs to the city. Business is booming in Texas, particularly in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, and Rowlett is well-positioned in the region-on the water and on the move. Rowlett offers an authentic small town feel within one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States.
Before her role with Rowlett, Katie Rose worked as the Director of Membership Outreach for two state chambers of commerce, in North Carolina and Missouri. As Director, she focused on investor relations and association management-meeting with the chamber's members, who invest in their non-partisan, pro-business advocacy efforts at the state capitol. The North Carolina Chamber experienced an impressive growth in member retention rates under her program implementation that centered on providing members with a return on investment. Notably, the North Carolina Chamber was recently named "State Chamber of the Year" by The Council of State Chambers. While at the state chamber, she presented their forward-thinking strategic plan to their members, that was developed with the renowned economic development consulting firm, Economic Leadership LLC.
Prior to that position, Katie Rose worked for two distinguished Members of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. doing legislative work. While on the Hill, she graduated from the Heritage Congressional Fellows program and completed courses at The Leadership Institute. Her political work on the campaign trail led her to policy work on the hill, as she sought to experience first-hand what she campaigned for at the federal level. She served as the Finance Director on a U.S. Congressional campaign and then for a state political party in Kansas, where she produced fundraising for the Kansas delegation at the local, state and federal level. As a result, she successfully implemented a fundraising campaign that generated approximately half a million dollars in gross contributions and exceeded their fundraising goal each finance quarter.
Katie Rose brings a distinct business perspective, with demonstrated success as a professional in both the public and private sector. She started her career in the private sector working for a Fortune 500 company in the defense industry and a local Dallas-Fort Worth company in the healthcare industry. A staunch supporter of the business community, she is a graduate of Leadership Olathe, an annual coveted class with influential leaders in business and government. A meaningful mission-she looks forward to meeting with Rowlett's businesses to hear directly from the field how the city can best serve our business community.
Miss Hargreaves earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from The University of Kansas and has continued her education through KU School of Business graduate courses. She looks forward to professional development with the Texas Economic Development Council this summer.
