INCENTIVES OVERVIEW
The City of Rowlett, on a case-by-case basis, will consider providing economic development incentives to new or expanding businesses that provide jobs and investment in the community. As the contact point for incentives, the Rowlett Economic Development Department reviews incentives applications and measures potential impact through a third-party software program.
Once an application has been received, the Economic Development Department presents to the Economic Development Advisory Board for their review before going to the City Council. The top considerations for incentives include: number of jobs; average wages; financial health of the business; type of project; and capital investment.
For a list of available incentives and minimum requirements, please see link to the City of Rowlett Incentives Policy. Past incentives offered include property tax rebates, property tax abatements, triple freeport exemption, impact fee waivers/reductions, permit fee waivers/reductions, and job grants. The Rowlett Chamber Foundation also offers a façade improvement grant program, which is up to 50% of total cost not to exceed $1,000.
The State of Texas also offers a myriad of incentives and financing programs to businesses of all sizes.
