The City of Rowlett Economic Development Department was formed to help our existing companies grow, recruit new business and diversify the tax base. The Economic Development Department works with site selectors, brokers, developers and business owners to create jobs and broaden the commercial tax base.

Rowlett State of the Market 2017

Perhaps no other development has elicited as much excitement as Bayside. This $1 Billion mixed-use development will rival any development in the U.S. with construction already underway. Bayside is a 262-acre development that is split by Interstate 30 - the North Side will consist mostly of single-family and multifamily developments with some retail and other uses while the South Side will feature an 8-acre crystal lagoon with a state-of-the-art show fountain, Class A office space, lake front trails, hotels, numerous retail and restaurant venues, marina, condos, multifamily units, a medical district, entertainment options, and a 502-room resort and conference center.
Village of Rowlett Downtown
Downtown Rowlett is seeing a renaissance of sorts and is receiving interest from all types of development including retail, restaurants, farm house living, multifamily, and others. The Downtown DART station has also opened up the opportunity for unique Transit-Oriented Developments. New projects include Bankhead Brewery, El Centro Mexican Restaurant, and the Village of Rowlett Mixed-Use Development ( The City just created a Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone to help spur additional development in the Downtown area by providing needed infrastructure improvements.
North Shore
As a part of Realize Rowlett 2020 Phase III, the Rowlett City Council authorized the North Shore Planning Initiative in 2013. As a part of the process, the City commissioned a marketing plan and target industry analysis to identify potential targets for the development. Located on the PGBT, North Shore offers over 1,314 acres of vacant land.
